University of Detroit Mercy Student Jessie Guza Helps Rebuild Houses in New Orleans

Jessie Guza of Deckerville, MI, a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, spent a portion of winter break in New Orleans helping rebuild houses destroyed by natural disasters.

Guza, a nursing major, was one of eight University of Detroit Mercy students who volunteered for the University Ministry's Alternative Winter Break to New Orleans, LA. This trip provides students with an opportunity to see the world in a different light, while offering service to those less fortunate.

University of Detroit Mercy is one of 28 largest of 16 Mercy institutions of higher education in the United States. For the 12th consecutive year, UDM is listed in the top tier of Midwest Regional Universities in the 2013 edition of the U.S. News and World Report's "America's Best Colleges."
